Dr. Santarelli was raised in Philadelphia, PA, and graduated  from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. He received his medical degree from the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, ME. He completed his Internship at St. Joseph's Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, and and his Residency in Internal Medicine at Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington, PA, where he served as Assistant Chief Medical Resident. Dr. Santarelli later completed a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center in Camden, NJ, and continued there as Assistant Professor of Medicine on the faculty of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Camden.

"Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is a challenging, rapidly changing specialty. Being able to care for patients who are critically ill in the hospital ICU and then following up with them in the office through their recovery is the most rewarding part of our practice. Our experience with the broad diversity of illness, along with the relationships we have developed with patients and their families, enables us to provide compassionate expertise during critical aspects of a patient's life.

Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine encompass a large field of illnesses. While smoking cessation continues to be a major intervention in promoting lung health, early diagnosis and treatment of disorders causing shortness of breath is vital. Additionally, breathing disorders during sleep, such as sleep apnea, can have major effects on heart and lung function, while also causing significant fatigue.

Dramatic improvements in quality of life can be achieved with a thorough evaluation."
